Windows
Yesterday Greg put in the last of the new windows in the living room. There is still trim work to be done outside, but at least there are three new windows and a new front door.
When we first got here that Saturday we went to The Estate Sale and found a washer and dryer. The only problem was we didn’t own the house yet, so no place to put them. The funny part was the man selling told us that the washer still had a load of laundry in it from when they took it out of the home. Well week after week we kept going back and the set was still there, with the laundry in it. So we went back yesterday and told ourselves if it was still there we gonna ask if we could get the set for $200. And now we have a washer and dryer. I finally took out the load of laundry and trashed it.

As promised…
Xmas is coming
Bedroom wall
Yesterday was kinda slow going but productive. Greg finished shelving his closet and started mine. All the while pulling out art, clothes, and things from the garage.
Today Greg got my closet pole up so I could start hanging clothes. We had just dumped our wardrobe into the pods and then on to the garage floor on a drop cloth. Now we can see all of our stuff and not have to search for that pair of jeans.
Greg spent the last little bit hanging art on our bedroom wall. Hope you enjoy.
12/14/11
Did some grocery shopping, bought a coffee maker and toaster oven, then went to look for a gas stove. The estate sale(a local shop) here in Palm Springs has been really a miss lately. Our friend Hal told us about Standard of excellence in Rancho Mirage, it happens to be going out of business, and we found our new scuffed slightly dented Whirlpool gas stove. Eating lunch now and then picking up our dresser we purchased last night. The rest of the day will be spent finishing the closets and unpacking.
Here are a couple of photos to show you what a difference the sun makes. The last two days were over cast and rainy.
Finished
We finished the third coat of epoxy on the floors and put a second coat on the bed. The bed was going to be black, but we found a $2 can of oops dark brown paint. Our couch which we will reupholster one day has caster wheels. At Lowe’s we found short square tapered feet to replace the wheels. Now we are at a laundry mat washing a flokati rug we got for $25.

Sheetrock done
So at HD yesterday morning we realized the 7.5″ grinder and several masonry blades could get the floors where we want them. The hardest part of the process was removing the left over material from the linoleum. After spending all day on our knees, we finished the kitchen, living room, bathroom, and the hall.
I managed to slice into my knee with about a one foot square of floor left, so Greg had to finish. I’m fine and there wasn’t much carnage, but the cut being on my knee is a problem for walking and bending. Lesson learned.
Today the electricians finished moving lightswitches and wiring the new cable, while Greg sheetrocked the rest of the closet and made all the small patches throughout the house.
More pictures soon!
