Sewing Day
Decisions
Now that the roof is on, we have been trying to figure out what exactly we will do to the outside of our structure. In the February issue of Dwell, on the last page is a photo of a home in Connecticut that used metal shingles in the same way cedar shingles are used all over the cape. What do you think?

Yard Work
After hooking up to the sewer, we had a little concrete work done to extend the front drive to make room for another car. On the back of the house we extended the patio on both sides to allow for a larger seating area, and be able to get to the trash cans without tracking through the sand. On the far side of the house we dug up and sifted the sand to remove grass and put down a weed barrier, then covered it with rock.
Back At Home
Well we have been back here since just before Halloween. Lots of cleaning and now starting to feel settled again.
We left NY just before all of the Sandy drama. Stopped in AR to see my parents and then on to the Crystal Bridges museum. Probably one of the best museum experiences I have ever had. Then we were focused on getting here as quickly as possible.
We jumped right into projects…
First Greg built a nice cedar closet in the garage. Then over the summer we found out that we needed to connect to the town sewer, apparently that had never happened. So last week they came dug up the front yard and filled in the septic tank, now we are legit. Next Greg built a small nook in the living room that will act as an extra guest bed and puts us closer to the tv. Right now the install guys from Home Depot are putting in our new sliding glass doors.
