Bedroom wall
Yesterday was kinda slow going but productive. Greg finished shelving his closet and started mine. All the while pulling out art, clothes, and things from the garage.
Today Greg got my closet pole up so I could start hanging clothes. We had just dumped our wardrobe into the pods and then on to the garage floor on a drop cloth. Now we can see all of our stuff and not have to search for that pair of jeans.
Greg spent the last little bit hanging art on our bedroom wall. Hope you enjoy.
12/14/11
Did some grocery shopping, bought a coffee maker and toaster oven, then went to look for a gas stove. The estate sale(a local shop) here in Palm Springs has been really a miss lately. Our friend Hal told us about Standard of excellence in Rancho Mirage, it happens to be going out of business, and we found our new scuffed slightly dented Whirlpool gas stove. Eating lunch now and then picking up our dresser we purchased last night. The rest of the day will be spent finishing the closets and unpacking.
Here are a couple of photos to show you what a difference the sun makes. The last two days were over cast and rainy.
Long day
Up early to meet the plumber this morning. Found out where the mysterious smell was coming from, under the hot water heater. With that taken care of, he continued to fix faucets, toilet, and old water lines.
Our friend Tim stopped by on his way from Ptown to LA and then to Portland. Was good to see him and have him see our new home.
We finally got to eat a very late lunch (4pm) and then off the get our bed. We got the last one they had and also found a dresser for the living room. Tomorrow will be our first night. YAY!!!
We are in…
The floor was dry and we have started unloading the garage into the house. All the furniture is in and Greg has been busy unpacking art. I started painting the bathroom. Btw, all of this happened after running errands all morning. The plumber comes first thing tomorrow to check things and replace a valve.
Finished
We finished the third coat of epoxy on the floors and put a second coat on the bed. The bed was going to be black, but we found a $2 can of oops dark brown paint. Our couch which we will reupholster one day has caster wheels. At Lowe’s we found short square tapered feet to replace the wheels. Now we are at a laundry mat washing a flokati rug we got for $25.
Second coat
So close
So far…
Pods
Today our Pods that we shipped from Ptown arrive. We have been to the local Uhaul where they have stored for the last month and have had them open. Soon we will know how well our stuff survived. I don’t think I would recommend using Ubox unless they are your only option, which was our case being on Cape Cod.
With both Pods unloaded the only damage was to Greg’s wing chair, which was our fault for not covering it or protecting it better. It is really nice to have all of our stuff in one place, our home.
After lunch, we finished painting the closets and got one coat of paint in the bedroom. Cary and Sammy came by at the end of the day to check on our progress.
